Reflections from the Connor Consulting Royalty Team All Hands in Vietnam

The Connor Consulting Royalty Practice all hands in Vietnam was far more than a team meeting. It was a defining moment for connection, learning, and alignment across a growing global practice.

For me personally, the week was especially meaningful. It was my first visit to Vietnam and my first in person team event since joining Connor Consulting in June 2025. Experiencing the royalty team together in one place brought clarity to the people, the work, and the future of the practice in a way that remote collaboration cannot fully replicate.

As a Senior Associate who joined Connor Consulting less than a year ago, being able to share these reflections firsthand speaks to the level of trust, inclusion, and opportunity to contribute meaningfully from day one.

Learning, Alignment, and a Shared Commitment to Excellence

The agenda was intentionally designed to balance immediate priorities with long term strategy. Sessions focused on best practices in royalty compliance, evolving client needs, and how the royalty practice continues to scale alongside Connor Consulting’s broader growth.

What stood out most was the level of engagement across the room. Team members at all levels asked thoughtful questions, shared perspectives, and challenged ideas constructively. The conversations reflected genuine curiosity and a shared desire to deliver excellence for clients.

By the end of the week, I had a clearer understanding of how Connor defines excellence within the royalty practice, how expectations align across teams, and how individual contributions support the firm’s broader objectives.

Turning Innovation Into Action Through the Connor Hackathon

One of the most energizing moments of the week was the Connor Hackathon presentations. Our team of three new hires was selected as one of five finalist teams, reinforcing how Connor Consulting values ideas based on impact rather than title or tenure. We presented a concept for a centralized knowledge database designed to support the royalty practice by improving access to historical insights, audit learnings, and best practices. The thoughtful questions and feedback from senior leadership and the broader team further underscored that practical, high value ideas are encouraged and taken seriously across the firm.

In addition to our submission, other finalist concepts explored how artificial intelligence could be more deeply embedded into core consulting workflows. Rather than treating AI as a standalone tool, these ideas focused on thoughtful integration that supports scale, consistency, and efficiency across complex client engagements. The emphasis was not on experimentation for its own sake, but on responsible implementation that enhances how teams work.

What stood out most was how clearly this aligns with firm priorities. Leadership reinforced that AI implementation and integration is a top focus for Connor Consulting in the year ahead, including how we evaluate and develop talent. It is a topic we actively discuss with recruits and a capability we are intentionally building across practices.

While details remain intentionally high level, leadership shared that select AI driven ideas will be reviewed in partnership with Engineering and advanced toward implementation in coming months. Seeing a clear connection between innovation, strategy, and execution reinforced that Connor is not racing to follow trends, but deliberately positioning itself ahead of them.

Strengthening Connections Across the Team

With a team of more than 60 professionals, having dedicated time together made a meaningful difference. Informal moments helped transform colleagues into collaborators and accelerated relationships that might otherwise take years to build remotely.

From cooking traditional Vietnamese dishes together to participating in an Amazing Race style challenge and exploring the historic streets of Hoi An Old City, shared experiences created space for genuine connection.

The final karaoke night was unforgettable. It offered a relaxed environment to see a different side of colleagues and leadership and served as a reminder that strong teams are built on trust, openness, and shared enjoyment, not just technical expertise.

Looking Ahead for the Royalty Practice at Connor Consulting

The Vietnam all hands made it clear that Connor Consulting is deeply invested in its people and the future of the royalty practice.

The thoughtful planning, strong leadership presence, and emphasis on collaboration, innovation, and professional growth were evident throughout the week. I returned with stronger relationships, a clearer understanding of where the royalty practice is headed, and renewed excitement about contributing to what comes next.

While our work is global and often remote, coming together in person remains essential for building strong teams, reinforcing culture, and shaping the future of Connor Consulting.
